Introduction to Quantum Dots

Laurie King at Imperial College London introduces us to quantum dots. Special nanocrystals called quantum dots absorb UV light and emit the energy as visible light in the form of a colour. The colour depends on the size of the quantum dot. Smaller dots are green and larger dots are red. Quantum dots can be used in solar cells as they absorb light from the sun and can also emit the energy as electrical energy.
